About Igneous Wines

Igneous Wines Vineyard

Don and Ann Huckfeldt, longtime Napa Valley residents, created Igneous Wines after they were able to secure some Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Thorevilos Vineyard, a vineyard owned and operated by David Abreu in St. Helena at the base of Howell Mountain. Rounding out the production team are Nils Venge and his son Kirk. Nils has crafted some of Napa Valley's most outstanding and memorable wines and he was the first American to make a wine that received a perfect 100 point score from the internationally renowned wine critic Robert Parker, Jr.   Kirk Venge is an extremely talented young winemaker, who was born and raised in the Napa Valley. Kirk followed in his father Nils’ footsteps, securing a degree in enology at the University of California, Davis.

Don has always had a passion for geology and especially volcanic rock formations – he owns a water-well drilling company, which has given him an appreciation for the composition of the soil and terroir of the Napa Valley. Therefore, “Igneous” seemed to be the perfect name for his wines.
